With a smattering of beautiful pearlescent scales, a tail that continuously betrays her inner thoughts, and two horns that sweep back in gentle curves Kallista appears to be part of the illusive Au Ra race but her coloring and doe-like gaze speak to what may not be a pure bloodline. It was this very thing, a thing out of her control, that lead to her start in life...Left out in the bitter cold in Coerthas on a clear night the babe had nearly froze to death but a mercenary on a hunt stumbled upon where she'd been placed in a hollow tree with the intent to be forgotten. Immediately he had tucked her within his jacket, rushing back to Ishgard to get her to warmth and safety.At first the babe had appeared to be merely a mixed Elezen, her skin unblemished and smooth. The couple, Ilharn and Vasati, were overjoyed and adopted the wee one into their previously childless home. They made the choice to move to Vasati's place of birth, Sharlayan, to give the girl the best chances in flourishing. Something that they had felt was not achievable within the destroyed Holy See.The idyllic joy was short lived.As Kallista grew she began to notice small changes to her skin, shimmering scales forming on her upper arms and hips. Overjoyed and in awe the child had shown her mother. It was in that moment the unbridled rage her adoptive mother held towards those she viewed as less came rushing to the surface.From there the Au Ra lived little better than a cage animal. Sheltered as much as possible to save face for her vain mother the girl was allowed few liberties, ones only given after Ilharn had fought for her. Her adoptive father was her hero and her solace.It was during this time that the young teen flourished in her mage training, her only escape from her guilded cage, and eventually she passed the trials of a mage. The small freedom was not without its own price for she found the hatred for mixed blood to be strong in others, often targeted for cruel panks and mistreated by her very own classmates.Despite this and despite the way her adoptive mother shunned her, Kallista retained a level of innocence and gentleness—two traits her father strived to protect for he could see the hope Kallista held. Hope that life would hold more for her. It was when listening to tales of his journeys, ones she'd heard countless times, that the idea to see the world—to escape her mother's controlling hold and the hatred of others—was born.It was after much arguing, much fighting, that the healer finally set foot on a ship bound for Ul'dah. Kallista was bright eyed, eager for an adventure. One that she'd soon realize was unlike anything she could have expected...

Perhaps you worked in Ishgard and knew her father, Ilharn, from his mercenary work. You may recall a small shy child trailing after him from time to time before the old mercenary left the Holy See. Or maybe you were lucky
enough to be taught the ways of aetheric manipulation within Sharlayan.
Each of these play into a past that is fuzzy for Kallista or memories she rarely speaks on
but maybe a shared connection is all it takes to get her to
